Swarm Trapping Class

  • Savannah Hydroponics and Organics 4107 8th Street Savannah, GA, 31408 United States (map)

Learn about bee swarming behavior and how to safely trap swarms to add free bees to your apiary with guest speaker JP Cooper of 5 Hive Apiaries and Greenhouse Gardens Organic Nursery.

JP is a certified beekeeper, an organic gardener, and the proud owner of a thriving backyard nursery. With a deep-rooted love for nature, JP has dedicated his life to cultivating both plants and pollinators. As a certified beekeeper, he understands the vital role bees play in our ecosystem and works to promote their health and conservation. JP's beekeeping journey began out of a fascination with these incredible insects 14 years ago and has blossomed into a commitment to educating others about the importance of bees.

In addition to the class, attendees will receive a $50 credit towards purchasing a sanded and painted swarm trap made by JP, and will take home a swarm trap building template if they wish to build their own.

Attendees who purchase a trap will also receive assistance from JP with hanging them and transferring the swarm to your hive.

If you would like to experience swarm trapping but do not want to keep the bees, you can host a swarm trap. More information will be provided in the class.
